FEATURING the VOYEUR

A trip to the theater is an opportunity to see and to be seen. The design of this performing arts center sets up a series of stages, and vantage points for theater goers and performers to survey and be surveyed in their varying levels of curated appearance.

The site is divided into smaller scale platforms providing spaces with a heightened sense of voyeurism throughout the procession. Elevation plays a key role in providing these vantage points in the design. The highest points are not exclusively observing spaces, but function as both a vantage point and a stage to be seen.

By elevating the theater above the ground the entry sequence is able to be curated into smaller platforms and open up the site to create a stage for the city. The interior curved ceiling is a focal point in the building design which guides the patron’s eye to important moments within the procession.
